SLAVIC CABBAGE ROLLS

INGREDIENTS
  • Cabbage
  • salt
  • water
  • rice
  • onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 lb meat (sausage / lamb)
INSTRUCTIONS
Core a large cabbage. Carefully peel off about 10 of the largest leaves. Cook in salted water until soft. While leaves are cooling on an absorbent towel, steam 1/2 cup of rice; drain and cool slightly. Mix together: 2 tbsp. chopped onion 1 egg 1/2 lb. meat (half sausage & half lamb is good)
Roll a heaping tablespoon of filling mixture in leaf and place in baking pan or dish. Pour a can of tomato sauce over all after pan is full (single layer). Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. This great cabbage rolls recipe is ready to serve. Nice taste ! Enjoy it !

Try this great cabbage rolls recipe...the SALMON CABBAGE ROLLS

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash pepper
  • 1 (15 1/2 oz.) can salmon, drained, flaked & skin & bones removed
  • 3/4 c. cooked rice

INSTRUCTIONS
In a mixing bowl combine the beaten egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce and dash pepper. Add flaked salmon and cooked rice; mix well. Boiling waterCut out the heavy center rib of each cabbage leaf, keeping each leaf in 1 piece. Immerse cabbage leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes or until limp; drain on paper toweling. Place about 1/3 cup of salmon mixture on each leaf; fold in sides and tuck ends under. Place 2 rolls, seam side down, in each of 4 shallow individual baking dishes. Set aside. 2/3 c. skim milk 1 tsp. cornstarch 1/4 tsp. dried dillweed 1/4 tsp. salt Dash pepper. This nice cabbage rolls recipe is ready to serve....amazingly nice...! Great for starters !

INGREDIENTS
  • Ground meat
  • Chopped onion
  • Chopped celery
  • 1 can whole tomatoes (save juice)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/3 c. corn meal

INSTRUCTIONS
Mix together. Blanch cabbage leaves in salted boiling water. Chop core of cabbage and put in pot. Roll leaves and mixture and put in pot. Add remaining juice and little water. Cover
and cook slowly for 40 minutes. The cabbage roll recipe is ready to serve...great for meals !

INGREDIENTS
1 head cabbage

Core and remove leaves. Put into hot water to soften.
Mix:
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef (pork may be added)
  • 1 c. rice (instant)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 sm. onion, cut fine
  • Salt & pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 head red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp. olive oil
  • BLAIR pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 c. diced, cooked chicken
  • 3 red apples, peeled & diced
  • Kaiser rolls
  • 3 spring onions, sliced
  • 1 c. mayonnaise
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. BLAIR garlic powder
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • BLAIR pepper to taste
  • Coarse grain mustard
  • Boston Bibb lettuce leaves

INSTRUCTIONS
Combine all cabbage ingredients in large saucepan and cook over high heat 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer stirring frequently for 25 minutes. Refrigerate overnight.

Stir well before using.
Combine all chicken ingredients in a large bowl. Stir well and refrigerate overnight. Stir well before using. Cut rolls in half, spread each half with mustard. Line rolls with bibb lettuce, spoon on cabbage mixture and spoon on chicken salad. The cabbage rolls recipe is ready to erve with chips...hmm...nice ! Enjoy it !

LAZY MAN'S CABBAGE ROLLS

LAZY MAN'S CABBAGE ROLLS RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 head cabbage, clean & quartered, with each quarter halved
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 extra lg. onion, chopped
  • 1 extra lg. bell pepper, chopped
  • 2-3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2-3 sprigs parsley, chopped
  • 1 lg. lb. chopped or ground beef
  • 2 c. cold cooked rice or 2 c. minute rice (salted & water)
INSTRUCTIONS
Optional: 1/2 can tomato sauce or 1 large tomato, peeled and chopped. Spray large skillet (that has a good cover) with Pam. Brown meat (leave drippings unless too fat). Add onions, bell peppers, etc. and stirring, saute with meat until onions are clear. Add cabbage. Season all very well to taste. Add approximately 2 cups hot water and rice. Stir all well together and cover, simmer, stirring occasionally.

If too dry, add water, if too wet, uncover after cooking. Cook until cabbage is tender.Serves 4-6, depending on hunger. If tomato sauce or tomato is used, cut on water to approximately 1 1/2 cups. Serve with green salad. Very Quick - start to finish, approximately 1 hour.
Note: Okra can be substituted for cabbage, but don't add rice.

Put over cooked rice (or do without, can add smoked sausage to this when with okra). Add 1 tablespoon roux to mixture before simmering. Better not to add water, also, just cover and simmer real slow! The cabbage rolls recipe is ready to serve...enjoy !

MOM'S CABBAGE ROLLS WITH LEMON SAUCE

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cabbage (lg.)
  • 1/2 c. onions
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4-1/3 c. Minute Rice
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 c. parsley
  • 5 beef bouillon cubes

INSTRUCTIONS
Boil whole cabbage until leaves are tender. Brown beef, onions, parsley and eggs. Add beef bouillon (which have been melted in 1 1/2 cups water with 2 tablespoons butter) to moisten (do not use all). Add rice. Roll in leaves and place in pan. Pour remaining bouillon juice over cabbage rolls. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes (baste often).

SAUCE:
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4-1/3 c. lemon juice
  • Bouillon juice (may use juice from cabbage rolls)
Beat egg whites until beaten, not stiff. Add egg yolks until flat and fluffy. Slowly add lemon juice. Add bouillon juice. Warm until thick

OLD STYLE CABBAGE ROLLS

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups rice
  • 2 onions
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic
  • 2 cans tomato juice
  • salt and pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
Boil cabbage leaves in pot until tender, do not overcook. Boil rice until it's soft. In pan, melt butter, add diced onion and garlic. Cook onion on medium heat until golden brown.
When cabbage is ready, mix rice, butter and onions together in a big pot.

Lay the leaves of cabbage one leaf at a time across your hand, then spoon rice mixture onto one end of the leaf. Roll the cabbage and push in rice from the open ends. Put them in a crock pot with a sheet of wax paper between the layers.Pour one can of tomato juice on them and let cook for 1 hour, then add another can and let cook for another 45 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. The cabbage rolls recipe is ready to serve...enjoy it !

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 lbs. ground beef
  • 6 breakfast sausage patties
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cup rice, cooked
  • 1 lg. onion, chopped
  • 1 large bell pepper chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • garlic powder to taste
  • 1 large jar pasta sauce
  • Parmesan cheese

INSTRUCTIONS
Core cabbage and boil 10 minutes. Separate leaves. Keep in boiling water until tender enough to bend leaves.Season beef and breakfast sausage with garlic, salt and pepper. Add onion, bell pepper, beaten egg and 1 cup rice. Mix well.

Fill leaves with mixture. Roll like a burrito, tucking ends as you go using the largest leaves. Secure with toothpicks.
Place in bottom of large steamer. Add water to bottom not to touch rolls. Cook covered, simmering for 1 1/2 hours. if you monitor closely, you can boil on high adding water as needed,
this will cook them quicker in 1 hr. While they are steaming put your favorite pasta sauce in a large pan, simmer and when cabbage rolls are done set them very carefully in the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. serve on a bed of the left over 2 cups of rice. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese! And this nice cabbage roll recipe is ready to serve. Great one ! Enjoy !

Crockpot Cabbage Rolls

Try this Crockpot Cabbage Rolls recipe.....a must try !

Ingredients:

* 2 lbs. ground beef
* 3/4 c. cooked rice
* 1 lg. egg
* 1 onion, chopped fine
* 1/2 tsp. salt & pepper
* 1 large head of cabbage
* 1 can condensed tomato soup
* 1 can (14.5 ounces) tomatoes
* 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (I usually add a little more)
* salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:
Remove leaves from head of cabbage gently, trying to keep whole. Scald these in boiling salt water just long enough to wilt. Take and set these on paper towels to cool. Prepare meat mixture in a large bowl; add rice, onion, egg, salt and pepper; mix well. Place about 1/4 cup meat mixture in center of each leaf; fold in sides and roll ends over meat; secure with wooden toothpicks. Place in Crock Pot. Combine tomato soup, tomatoes, cinnamon, salt, and pepper; pour over cabbage rolls. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours. I usually add the excess cabbage, too....and the crocpot cabbage rolls are ready to serve....amazingly nice taste !

* 12 large cabbage leaves

* 2 teaspoons salt

ground beef, onion, sage, cheese, bread crumbs, milk, and salt. Place a large spoonful of meat
mixture on each cabbage leaf; roll up, tucking ends inside to seal meat in. Secure with toothpicks. Place in baking dish and add 1 cup water, broth or tomato juice. Cover rolls with bacon strips and bake at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes. The cabbage rolls recipe are ready to serve.... great !

Ingredients:

* 1 head cabbage -- chopped
* 2 medium onions -- chopped
* 3 cloves garlic -- minced

* 1 stick butter -- (4 ounces)
* 6 slices bread -- soaked in milk
* 2 cups cream
* 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese -- grated
* salt and pepper -- to taste

Preparation:
Parboil chopped cabbage in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside. Saute onions and
garlic in a little vegetable oil until onions are translucent but not browned. Add cabbage to onions and garlic. Add butter, moistened bread, cream, and cheese. Pour half of the mixture into a lightly buttered casserole. Top with half the seasoned crumbs. Pour the remaining mixture into the casserole; top with remaining seasoned crumbs. Ingredients

Cabbage rolls:
  • 1 (3-pound) head cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 onion, slivered
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 cup diced Granny Smith apple
  • 2/3 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup 2% reduced-fat milk
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried rubbed sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup water

Basting glaze:
  • 4 bacon slices, chopped
  • 1/3 cup dark corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS
To prepare cabbage rolls, core cabbage using a serrated knife. Place cabbage in an 8-inch square
baking dish or 2-quart casserole; add 2 tablespoons water. Loosely cover with heavy-duty plastic wrap.

Microwave at high 9 minutes, rotating baking dish a half-turn after 5 minutes. Cover dish and let stand 15 minutes. Discard any tough dark green leaves. Remove 8 light-colored cabbage leaves. Cut off raised portion of the main vein of each leaf, and set leaves aside. Finely chop enough remaining cabbage to measure 1/2 cup, and set aside. Coarsely chop enough remaining cabbage to measure 2 cups; arrange in bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Top with slivered onion.Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add rice; reduce heat to medium-low, and cook 8 minutes. Drain well.

Preheat oven to 350°.Combine 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage, rice, apple, and the next 7 ingredients (apple through egg). Crumble turkey over mixture; stir just until blended. Place about 1/2 cup turkey mixture in center of each cabbage leaf. Fold in edges of leaves, and roll up; place cabbage rolls on top of coarsely chopped cabbage. Cut several 1/4-inch-deep slits across top of each roll. Pour 1/4 cup water over rolls. Cover with foil, and bake at 350° for
30 minutes.

To prepare basting glaze, cook the bacon in a small saucepan over medium heat for 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from heat. Remove bacon from pan; discard bacon drippings. Return bacon to pan; stir in corn syrup and remaining ingredients. Uncover cabbage rolls; spoon one-third basting glaze over cabbage rolls. Bake, uncovered, 1 hour, basting with basting glaze every 20 minutes. Spoon about 1/4 cup remaining cabbage on each of 8
plates; top each with 1 cabbage roll. This amazing cabbage rolls recipe is ready to serve...great taste of rolls !

Cabbage Rolls (Golabki) recipe

Try this Cabbage Rolls recipe (Golabki)... a classic Hungarian's ...nice taste !
This is a mixture of beef, pork, rice, and seasonings wrapped in cabbage and baked with sauerkraut and tomato soup, topped with bacon.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 32 oz. jar sauerkraut - drained
  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1 med. onions - chopped
  • 1 Tbls. vegetable oil
  • 16 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/4 cups un-cooked white rice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbls. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 heads cabbage - boiled whole until tender, cooled
  • (2) 10.75 oz. cans condensed tomato soup - prepared as directed
  • 1/2 lb. raw bacon

-Spread sauerkraut in the bottom of a 13" X 9" X 2" pan; set aside.
-In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, brown beef, pork, and onion in oil.
-Stir tomato sauce, rice, milk, Worcestershiresauce, and garlic powder into pan.
-Wrap 1/2 cup meat mixture in each leaf of cabbage and secure with toothpicks.
-Lay rolls on sauerkraut, pour tomato soup evenly over rolls, and lay strips of bacon over rolls.
-Bake, covered, in a 350 degree oven for 2 hours.
